Dr. James Naismith was the one who created the game back in 1891. He created this game because he worked at a school in Springfield, Massachusetts and the head of the school told him he had 14 days to make an indoor sport and that is how it all got started!!
In 1898 the first professional league was formed. The players were paid $2.50 for home games and $1.25 for away games. In less than 100 years later, the Washington Bullets (now Washington Wizards) star Juwan Howard, received offers from the Bullets and Miami Heat for over 100 million dollars for seven seasons.
